I think that I believe in a power greater than myself, but I hate organized religion. I don't know what form my higher power takes, but I know that it is nothing like what "true believers" think of as "God."
If God were anything like what they believe in--omniscient, omnipotent, benevolent--most of what is wrong with the world would not exist. An omnipotent god would be able to defeat evil without our help. An omnicient god would be able to see evil approaching, and would not allow it to happen. A benevolent god would not want to see such evil visited upon its children. So either their god is not any of these things, or it has a wicked sense of humor. So which is it? And once the question has been asked, it must be answered. And they have no answer to that question.
If their god exists, and it is what they claim it is, it is insane. To possess all those abilities, and not use them, is clearly insane. And I really don't want to believe in an insane god.
